Lynk’s March Event Guide
With the end of February treating us to sun as well as snow, there’s no telling what March will bring. For this reason we’ve chosen a mixture of indoor and outdoor events to suit all conditions. Welcome to Lynk’s March Event Guide!
1st – 17th March
Seachtain na Gaeilge
This festival has become so popular that it now takes place over the course of 17 days, having grown from its initial week of activities. Between daytime and evening activities, you will no doubt find something that suits both your schedule and your level of Gaeilge! From table quizes to a traditional céilí, there will be many chances for you to practice your cúpla focal over the next two weeks.
8th – 10th March
Country to Country
When the Garth Brooks debacle took place a few years ago, we all learned just how much the Irish love country music! Country to Country is Europe’s largest country music festival and returns to Dublin for its sixth edition. Taking place in the 3Arena over 3 days, acclaimed artists such as Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton and Lady Antebellum will grace the stage to the delight of thousands of country music fans!
14th – 18th March
St. Patrick’s Festival
While the main event will take place on March 17th as always, there will be plenty of activities, sights and sounds to take in on the days leading up to and after the big parade. This celebration of Ireland’s rich heritage will take place over 5 days and includes a Festival Village at Merrion Square! Another fixture of St. Patrick’s Day is the annual Club Championships which take place in Croke Park and that brings us to our next event….
17th March
AIB GAA All-Ireland Club Championship Finals
A staple of St. Patrick’s Day and the biggest day of GAA club football during the year, the All-Ireland Club Championship Finals is what every parish dreams of playing in. The football final sees two powerhouses face off, the reigning champions Corofin and Dr. Crokes. The curtain raiser will see Kilkenny champions Ballyhale Shamrocks, take on another Galway team in St. Thomas. Ticket prices start at just €5 making this is a great and very affordable day out for all.
24th March
Blue Planet 2 – Live in Concert
The only thing better than watching David Attenborough shows hungover on a weekend is watching it on a giant screen accompanied by a live orchestra! The Hans Zimmer original composition will be performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra while stunning visuals from the award-winning show will play on the 3Arena’s large screen. We forgot to mention…this event takes place on a Sunday, so ease the fear from Saturday night and get yourself down to this soothing concert!
30th March
Leinster vs Ulster
The 6 Nations isn’t the only rugby action taking place in March, with a crucial match in the Heineken Champions Cup taking place between two in-form Irish teams. The quarter-final will take place in the Aviva Stadium after Leinster secured home advantage with a 37-19 win over Wasps earlier in the year. With players from both clubs competing in the 6 Nations, everyone will have their fingers crossed that no injuries occur in the lead up to this huge encounter.
